I want one so badly!!!! I have no money though! I wish I had a job, I applied 2 weeks ago.
Honestly, man, it's not that good. There's only a handful of okay games out for it, and for being out for a year and a half now, that's pretty pathetic. Trust me, I bought one because I felt the same way as you, but now that I have one, I see it more as a long-term investment; there's just no reason to rush out and grab one now. Do you have any of the other two current-gen systems?

Also, I really think Microsoft needs to pull their heads out of their asses and build the goddamn Wifi in. It costs next to nothing, and most people are running a wireless network of some sort in their house now. But no, you have to go out and spend a hundred freakin' bucks for a wifi antenna for the damn thing. And people say Nintendo nickels and dimes people...

or you could just buy a wireless bridge and maybe a switch and hook up everything in your entertainment center. Never have to worry about wireless accessories again.
Consoles tend to do wifi wrong, nintendo, for example, only allows WEP for security. you *really* don't want to be running that. maybe it's nintendo with their heads in a dark place... They must if you read what nintendo.com has to say about their encryption support.

This doesn't quite qualify as a price drop for me, but I am liking the black. White systems tend to get dirty faster, and quite a few fade. I'll buy 360 when I hear that Space Giraffe is out. I've bought two other systems *just* to play Minter's games, why not a third? I wish it was VGA support instead of HD, though.

I have been saving for a while, and this couldn't have come at a better time. It's worth saving another 80 bucks. Plus I'll have an HDTV soon...

I don't want to make an "I'm leaving" thread, but I've sort of lost interest in this board. So if you notice that I'm gone, that's why.

If some force compelled me to buy a console, I'd wait until the Elite came out and then buy the Premium.

Divine forces aside, I'm content with my desktop PC.

I must insert that with a PS3 you can put in any 2.5" SATA drive you wish, and the "good" version of it has WiFi and a next-gen DVD player for only $120 more than The Elite.

Of course this is from a company that relased what, 5 versions of Vista? MS must be dead-set to finally make a profit, I can't believe they didn't drop prices and go for Sony's jugular.

All Xbox 360 units have VGA. You can buy the cord for ~$40 or make it yourself (see Ben's engadget article on the subject).

Ok, so what the hell's so special about it? It is black and has HDMI?

I swear, it's kind of understandable with Vista, as it's software, but to make this many different 360 packages... $180 more than the premium package for a black case and HDMI? No thanks, I'll stick with my 480p anyways. :P

You neglected the fact that the Elite 360 has a hard drive double the size of the high-end PS3 (which apparently is important to people) and comes with an HDMI cable again unlike the PS3 in either form. Although the high-end PS3 does have built-in WiFi which no 360 has. Now, of course, you pointed out that the hard drive can be swapped out on the PS3, but that would be an additional cost on top of the $500 or $600 cost of the PS3.

Just wanted to make sure all the facts are out there. If a person doesn't care about Blu-ray there really is no good reason to go with a PS3 at this time. Pretty much the only game anybody talks about for it is Resistance and that game pales in comparison to any number of the great exclusives available for the 360. Granted Oblivion is out for the PS3 now, but then again that can be had for the much cheaper 360.

I think what this is, is MS testing the waters to see how well it sells. If it receives a luke warm reception you can expect to see a price drop by Christmas when they'll really try to put the screws to Sony. I really, really hope they get rid of the Core at that time. I didn't like the 2 system model that MS and Sony have adopted this gen and I really don't like a 3 system model. It's definitely overkill.

I do agree with whoever else said they should have added Wi-fi. This was the one mistake they made on the elite. This should have been integrated. Then it would have been a killer package and would have taken a bullet point away from the PS3.

Maybe they'll get that right with the Xbox 360: Ultimate Edition.

Yeah, but at least they offer it. Besides, WEP is more universally supported; Nintendo marketed their console to be for everyone, so a good chunk of Wii owners who don't own a WPA wireless access point would be left in the dark.

They better drop the price on the Premium, cause from what I see, the Elite sucks ass for what you have to pay for.

the 360 Premium would have to come down to $300 bucks for me to get one.

i just think its hilarious what MS thinks their storage solutions for the 360 are worth, wasnt the 64mb memory card like 40$ then they dropped it to 20 or so and released the 512mb one for like 50$ and the 120gb hdd which you can buy seperate will cost ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS, totaly reasonable seeing as how you can get a 120gb laptop hdd for under 100$ nowadays (quick check of ebay shows 82$ buy it now for a brand new western digital)
