well, TV tuners are meant for bringing in a signal and watching tv on your computer, not watching computer on your tv like you said. Even then, you can never get a clear computer picture on a standard tv, since the resolution of a tv is much smaller than a monitor so you can't really have the details or anything. It looks the same in Windows.

woops... i didn't read his post hard enough, and it is possible to connect a pc to a tv because i did it and it looks off-centered and horrible.

also, 640x480 looks fairly good on a tv.

Well just to semi correct Sponebuell, a tv card can work both ways. Its just that people prefer to have a cable line-in to the card rather than use it to watch their computer on a tv. Also we (as in me and my Computer teacher) in middle school hooked up a mac to a tv and was just used to presintaing and demistrations.

Anyways back to more on topic off topic questions. So I can find a media player that will support my ATI all-in-wonder card? If so is it under Gnome or KDE? As soon as I find that I can say good bye to windows except for school work.

I have yet to see a single tv tuner card that can output video (unless you count the radeon AIW, but that's a vga/tv tuner combo card)

The Card I have is a Radeon 9000 AIW Pro. Also the orginal card my computer came with was a GeForce 4 TI, that only offered tv-out, thats why it had to go.

I've been using KDETV, unlike what the name implies, it works under gnome and KDE. Not as good as ATI's program IMO, but it still works fine. As for not using Linux for school work, why not? OpenOffice is great and is compatible with word, even with drawings and stuff within the document. Just keep in mind that it cannot write to NTFS partitions, so you may need a flash drive.

I've been wondering this for awhile. What does KDE look like? I have always used gnome. I heard gnome was more of a Mac enviroment and KDE was more of a windows environment.

Theres a program I use to take test for a class and its only supported under windows so, I'm a little stuck until next semester.
