Im wiring the n64 joystick directly to the controller chip and i ran into a problem.
On the chip the is only 5 connections but on my joystick the is six wires.
im using this picture on where to wire them on the chip

This is probably extremely stupid of me to say as I'm sure you've considered it or whatever, but perhaps number 6 is ground?

I thought of this but I'm not sure because there are 5 grey wires and 1 white

there are some other componets it looks like your missing if you completely cut the board. But maybe you've thought of that.
