It was my friends birthday as well today so we had pancakes with candles in them :lol:

british mardi gras pretty much. except since they dont have such a "lets go get wasted" attitude like the mass of the american population does they just eat pancakes

Its supposed to be a christian holiday called Shrove Tuesday, it signifies either the end or the start of lent (i forget which)

Its not really a major holiday anywhere near on the scale of mardi gras its just an excuse to eat pancakes really

its not even a national holiday, although it usually falls in the february half term break

EDIT: its just before Lent, it was historically the using up of all the rich ingredients like eggs, milk, sugar and flour before lent where you ate "plain" stuff

I hear it more called as fa Tuesday, Its the Tuesday before Ash Wensday. The first day of the lent'on season. And over this season your supposed to eat bland food and stuff. So you eat all your good food on that day. No one does anything with it anymore, accept use it as a ploy to go out to eat. Damn my dad being a pastor has rubbed some off this mindless facts onto me. :lol:
