Game maker is a pretty powerful tool if used corectly. Take a look at Shawn64's work and you tell me thats not awesome.

Tested the game, It's pretty good for an early build. I'd like to see damage to the zombies. E.G. like after being hit once with a certain weapon exchange the sprite for a more damaged one. Oh and perhaps zombies could drop power-ups and ammo.

I remember trying to make a Yars Revenge (Atari 2600) clone. I think I still have the files somewhere. I don't think it was half as good as the original though
. I could't replicate the force field thing in the center of the screen properly so I had to use a particle system so everything had atari graphics except for the main part of the screen
