Xbox Controller on USB

Post by Jongamer »

Since the Xbox Controller ports are basically USB Ports in Disguise, is it possible to splice a Xbox Controller and the Male ended USB cord together and download the Correct drivers and use it on my Computer?

Yeah, actually just a few minutes ago my instructor mentioned that he did just that, when I noticed that there was a linux kernel driver for the thing. I would suggest getting a connection testing tool (multimeter) and use that to be use the cables are connected to the right ones on the USB. I fiddled around with doing that once and couldn't figure out what wires went where for the USB end.

Try this site. I've got a driver for using the Xbox headset on my computer (note; needs AR memory card adapter), and works great.

The wire colors actually match up, with one left over that doesn't have to connect to anything. I've had one running on a laptop for quite some time now. I'm using the xbcd drivers that was mentioned in the last post.

Yeah I made a connector myself as well. It's an excellent controller for using on a PC. Better than most gamepads made specifically for PC and extremely simple to do. I use it for N64 emulators and stuff to great effect.

This sounds like something I might want to do. Which XBOX wires do you connect to which USB wires?

Yes it works like a Dream with Halo, all I CAN'T get it to do is Use Rumble with halo, and I had to remap some buttons because they dont allow you to overlap 2 COntrolles on the same button. so all I didnt was switch the Switch gun Button to the Back button.

I've found, when using the Xbox controller, that sometimes, with certain emulators and games, they won't always register all the buttons. That's when I use a program like Joy2Key to map the buttons to keys on the keyboard. Takes away a bit of the headache, and only take a couple minutes to set up.
