I don't mean to be rude, but I was planning to move on with this project solo. And no, it's not dead, it's sitting on a chair next to me with extra ram I just installed today.

EDIT: My 150th post!

He's not making a game system he' sjust building a htpc for himself for other uses than htpc really.

If you where gonna build a game system you would have to have identical hardware for everyone and you aren't gonna fork over $100 or more for a mini itx so it wouldnt be universal anyway

Using a mini itx as stated would create a cheap game system with tv out and everything needed.

All hardware would be the same so one base OS can be made and no drives for diff video cards and sound cards that could be used.

Software wise it depends what you want a stripped down linux os could be used and a simple menu system which can read games off cds memory cards etc

You need to plan before you even start something on this scale you need to know what type of system it is will it be just a simple game system like ps2 where u load a disk and bam its done?

Or something like wii or xbox/xbox 360 with menus and other funtions.

Personally if its just the first style of popping in a disk and running it id forget about an OS and jsut use a stripped down linux with the game on each cd\dvd and use the boot off cd\dvd feature of the pc this way you don't need a hdd

But its just a waste of time no1 will write software for people to you it and if your using games that are already available then its really just a pc anyway cause of how each game executes

Not trying to be an ass just stating what i think

I'm thinking I want original games, but I might have PC games run on it too.

I think the xbox has already taken over that area. The only reason I say DC here is becuase there so cheap and they need no mod chip. And because I have no mod chip or dvd drive at this time.

You know, I don't need some random jerks popping in and shouting "OMG this is Stupid! It's a COMPUTER with a controller!" Yeah, BFD. I don't see you guys going out and doing anything on your own, so why criticize what I do? If you honestly think I'm not going to build this thing just because a few negative coments then you're a complete and total dumbass. I DO THIS FOR FUN. F-U-N. I don't intend to go spend hunreds of dollars on a Mini ITX computer just because it's smaller and more powerful. If you have a positive thing to say, go ahead and post. Eitherwise, get out of this topic and make fun of someone else's work.
