Notes on N64 Jumper Pack
This some notes on the jumper pack, incase anyone was wondering about it..
It is nothing.. Nothing at all.. I took it apart, and not a single chip on it, all it does is act as a "jumper"... (hence it's called that!)
I am stating this, as it seems some people are selling the jumper pack saying it has memory in it, this is NOT true at all.. Being the N64 is RAMBUS memory, and technically has two bays (one being soldered permanently), it needs a jumper, as one bank can NOT be empty.. Same thing applies to a PC with a Pentium 4 and a RAMBUS memory...
For anyone modding a N64 into a smaller unit, with this information, if you don't need the expansion pack, you might be able to remove the socket altogether, and permanently "jumper" the connection..

Are all connections jumped, or just 1 or 2?

oh i got my expansion pack, but im sure some people (for whatever reason they would), would rather not have the expansion pack.. (im sure it takes up some power, and it does generate some heat---atleast mine does)..Krepticor wrote:well don't forget about people like me who actually want the ram expansion...
So in that case, I would say just to cut it down, or fork over decent money for a weller Iron and relocate it...

I once borrowed an expansion pack to play Donkey Kong 64. After realizing it wasn't THAT good a game, I gave it back.
