Sound, but no video on interact screen

Yo. My interact gamecube screen is messed up, and now I'm only getting sound. I'm testing it with an xbox, and it has worked on it before. It's being powered by the gamecube power adapter.

Some little black thing popped off of it, its like a cylinder, and the screen will run without it. I tried reattaching it, and it still won't work.

That's a capacitor. It probably should be put back on.

I think its a capacitor, and they are directional, so you need to put it back on the right way.

Is there a certain way that it goes on? I don't know which way. When i Touched the 2 ends back on to the mobo I got sparks

Don't put it on while it's running! Of COURSE you'll get sparks!

The side with a white line down it is negative. If the line isn't directly above the wire, it's the side closest to the white line. Negative goes to ground.

Well, I put it back on wrong (Thanks dad!) then I put it on right. Either way, still no picture.

I have no idea. I know I'm getting Left and Right audio and the xbox is puttin out picture. If you need pics let me know.

if it is a capacitor, its possible that you have destoryed it. its also possible that that is the direct cause of your problem. or not. but you should replace it before you continue trying to solve the video problem.

Just throwing this out there, you say it's putting out picture, right? Maybe it's the backlight? Shine a flashlight through the back of the actuall screen.

Backlight or Ribbon Cable.

I bet it's just something loose somewhere.

And the capacitor, it's hooked up to the regulator and ground right? I wouldnt' doubt if it's jsut a decoupling capacitor, in which case it isn't neccesary for the screen to run but doesn't hurt (smooths out voltage spikes, I believe).

Well, its all hooked up, I checked the ribbon cable, and i think its ok. I know its not the backlight, but if it helps, sometimes, before it went out, the picture would mess up if it was moved around.

It's a loose connection. Check your wires, cables, and such. Including but not limited to: Video wire(s), Power wires for the screen/system, the ground wire going between the system and screen.
