I think console bashing is fairly stupid, but there is a reason we see what Triton is talking about. First, the 360 gets fairly good press because it already is out and most people have played it. It is easy to place more faith in an already existing console rather than a mockup at a huge convention. Second, the Wii gets all the good press because the people writing the reviews are creative gamers, like everyone on this site. We all like the idea of a truely unique gaming experience. Lastly, most of the bad press that the PS3 gets is because of its price. If you will remember, when the PS2 was first being released everyone thought it was too expensive. However, the PS2 sold well because it had brand credibility, a new feature no one else had(it could play dvds), and backwards compatibility.Triton wrote: If (the PS3) is the strongest looking why is it the only one getting this constant barage of bad press vs the wiis almost constant good press and xb 360s mostly favorible press.
NOW, things have become more even. All three new consoles offer backwards compatibility (even the wii, kind of
If I had the money, I would buy all three new consoles. I think they all bring something new to the world of gaming and are all a step towards better games.

Hey! You stole my joke (except I had it with an Xbox 360)!vskid wrote:Wii is small and will have good games. PS3 looks like a George Forman grill (and will likely get as hot as one).
So basically, this whole topic is a flame war about prices of Next Gen systems, right? Surprised Luc hasn't put the ol' lockr'oonie on it yet...

Unless you post an entire article about how much the Wii is comepletely superior to all the other consoles, expect no friendly comments from this site (except maybe me).XPCportables wrote:no it isn't, I didn't intend it to be. I hope to turn this thread around, for people to make friendly comments about my articles.

XPCportables, I think it's good that you're trying to get into writting and reporting, or 'creative writing' if you like. Writting for pleasure is always a rather beneficial activity. It keeps your mind sharp.
Unfortunately, most of what you have written is based on your own intuition, not hard facts. Many people take offence because they believe you are purposefully trying to portray your own conclusions as facts.
Anyway,
According to a few news articles, the PS3 is running into some hard times. It turns out that part of the memory interface within the device is rediculously slow (~4MB/s). At E3, this was manifested in the game previews as a noticeable rarity of actual objects in the game worlds (accept GT4, which was running on a dissimilar hardware platform, not an actual PS3 dev system). Just towards the end of 2005, Sony partners were trying to iron out problems with the CELL processor. Sony is really spending quite a bit of money on this console, and luck seems to be against them at the moment.
In my own opinion, the PS3 no longer seems quite so advanced compared to the Xbox360. I can't honestly say that I see any difference in the graphics quality between them. I think PS3 may fall behind both MS and Nintendo this year.

that really has to do with the developers though, I read that article as well and I get the feeling that some developers may be asking to sell for more, to compinsate for the large production costs, I don't think it'll be a problem though, I don't believe that PS3 games will ever get higher than $70, and I think that even that is a stretch, from what I have heard from the game stores, the most expensive PS3 games that they have preordered are $60, and some are $50 like 360.
