Game-Seeker official thread, Wii to take over the market!?

Post by XPCportables »

This is now the official thread for www.game-seeker.blogspot.com , when I post a new article I'll prolly update this thread. on the menu today

Wii to take over the market share?!?!
An article about the possibilities for Wii to bring honor back to Nintendo's name, you might not have read the other new articles either, The reality about the 360 & PS3 price, and WII WILL ROCK!!!, please comment away

Game-Seeker now has it's own forum!!!
I have a second editor coming to write for me, who will represent the Xbox, side, and for now I am trying to represent the Sony and Nintendo side myself, but I need somebody dedicated to representing the Nintendo side, anybody here wanna help?

PS. Triton says that my new articles are much less biased, and that I am getting better at this so please, don't avoid it.

ORIGIONAL POST:
I just created my blog on blogspot, and it debuted with my Next Gen Wars: the true story article. Please read it and comment here, I made some facinating discoveries about the pricing of the consoles that nobody has thought of yet(that's why it is called "the true story") I would like to se what others think. http://game-seeker.blogspot.com/2006/06 ... her-6.html hope you all like it. :D
EDIT: by the way, there is plenty more to come, of these articles by me so please stop by periodically to check out my new article :D
EDIT: again, please no flame wars, and I would like to say sorry about that fanboyism at the end, I just can't hide it. LONG LIVE PS3!!! :D

EDIT: MY WII PRAISE ARTICLE IS ON MY BLOG NOW, READ IT AND SHUT UP.

Eh, pretty biased. More of a Wii slamfest than an actual review. His logic on the whole actual "Wiimote" price is pretty whack, though. Plus, the PS3 is $600, not $500. He does raise some interesting points, albeit far-out ones.

It's $500 for the core package, which is what I used for the comparison because People who buy a Wii won't have HD anyway so there. and also the controller thing is totally legit, who buys a Nintendo system that plans to play SSB single player :roll: sorry about the Wii slamming, I will be writing more articles so the Wii praise will come, I actually intended to praise the Wii when I sat down to write this article, all of that stuff just kinda came to me as I was writing :)

PS3 is the strongest looking console as of yet
i would totally have to argue with that point, if its the strongest looking why is it the only one getting this constant barage of bad press vs the wiis almost constant good press and xb 360s mostly favorible press. if by strongest as in most powerful processor wise you might be right. also about the wiimote and nintendos ideas about the wii controll system, we dont know as of yet what all will be bundled with the wii and from what i have read wiimote addons wil be extremely inexpensive, cheap to the point they can be bundled with games, so arguing a 40$ pricepoint for wiimotes is flawed. and some of the things you argued about the ps3 (such as "completely homebrew equipped") are probably total BS and extremely unlikely (since when has sony EVER EVER EVER condoned homebrew on ANY of its systems) and most of your other arguements are blatant supposition

finally let me tear this apart
Wii = $250+ $120 for Wiimotes+ $160 for classic controllers+ $100 for gun attachments+ $80 for Nunchucku attachments= a grand total of $710
suppose it is 40$ for a wiimote, the nunchuck attachment is included with them (im 90% sure on that) any other misc game specific attachments will likely bundled with games they go with and like the zapper, who owned 4 lightguns? so they total for 4 wiimotes is 120$ with nunchucks and 25$ the classic controller at most they would probably cost 25$ apiece and one would be bundled with the system for a lightgun PLUS the wii will very,very likely only cost 200$ at launch so your grand total is 420$ plus games NOT 710$

as I stated, this is speculation and guestimation, this is a theory. but seemingly a very sound one. based on what we know and what we don't know. I said $40 for the Wiimotes because that is what the guy at my local gamespot said that they were estimating for preorders, he didn't know about the classic ones but he said that they would probably be around that same price range, and the attachments are completely speculation on my part so, lets say that the gun costs $15 and the nunchucku attachment is $10 and the classic controller is $30, that still totals to $605 and say the nunchucku is bundled with a Wiimote it still totals to $565, that would buy you a ps3 and an extra controller, and it is worlds more powerful.
EDIT by classic I mean this <a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/5744 ... wii2rx.jpg" border="0" width="181" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a>

By classic controller you mean GC controller right?
eBay
Two controllers, two extension cords, and a memory card for the price of one of your classic controllers. (This auction ends in 15 minutes, so for future reference, its 24.98 dollars the the listed things, shipped)

those don't count because they = offest of brand to the MAXX anyway, we're talking 1st party here. if you want to play that game we could do offbrand 360 andPS3 controllers too, which I am not going to do.

Well…everything you said there is very true.

Basic:

If system X wins, system X…wins.

Elaborate:

I've kind of left the console war behind (I just…don't talk about it anymore). Kind of like I've stopped really trying to predict what will happen next in MT. We'll just see what happens when it happens.

ok, one wii = 200$ plus tax, 4 wiimotes with nunchaka=120$ 4x used GC controllers (if you dont already have more than a few) 72$ shotgun 25$ thats still only 417$ still over 90$ cheaper than the baseline ps3 which noone will buy (did anyone buy the core 360? same thing, more money) not talking about the fact that wii games will cost probably 50$ retail while ps3 titles will most likey cost 60 or more likely still 70$ so for the "good" ps3 your paying 600$ plus tax plus 50$ a pop for the first party controllers x4 plus at a minimum 60$ a game and as to the ps3 being "worlds more powerful" thats a moot point, a decent PC costs almost the same as the ps3 and is worlds more functional no matter what sony says the ps3 will NEVER replace a pc, not trying to be flamy at all but 90% of your so called facts and whatever are either rumor or speculation

EDIT: Wait, YOU wrote this?! When you say:
Wii = $250+ $120 for Wiimotes+ $160 for classic controllers+ $100 for gun attachments+ $80 for Nunchucku attachments= a grand total of $710
Are you talking about 4 controllers, 160 classic controllers, 8 zapper attachments and 912002381237 nunchucks? Because the Wii will be $200-250 with controllers, bound to come with nunchucks and at least one classic controller.
PS3= $500+ $150 for controllers= $650
PS3 BASIC package is $500 and comes with 1-2 controllers.
X360= $400+ 150 for wireless controllers+ $60 for Play & Charge kits= $610
Basic is $400, comes with a controller, remote, game and faceplate.

Seriously, where are you getting all this crap from?

but see there is a difference frome the core PS3 and core 360, the core 360 lost most of it's functionality, the core PS3 retains almost all features and ends up not being that bad of a buy for those(like me) who don't have HDtvs and care nothing about HD movies. and I seriously doubt that the Wii will be flat $200, I definatly lean for $250. and actually the guy that I talked to at gamestop said that they have already advance ordered their copies of some launch titles, and that they will be $60 max and some will be $50. and for $500/$600 what kind of crap PC do you plan on getting, I have poured about $700 into my PC and it plays all current games but none of them on High graphics, most on low-mid graphics. so for $600 you will have a really nice crapping PC.

yeah, the Wii is totally going to come with 4 controllers :roll: and a classic controller :roll: If you will read the whole thing, you will see that I also stated the total of the premium version of PS3 too. and the faceplate and remote of the 360 are irrelavent because that is not what we are talking about.
and with that Wii mote and classic built into one quote I was referring to the PS3 controller, you know with the motion sensing and such.

Are you talking about the Wii? Nintendo said max 1st party will be $50. There have been articles of Reggie hinting at $40 3rd-party games.

EDIT: Actually, I hope mods lock this.

you can build a decent gaming rig for less than 600$ not high end by any means but ok. and if you think that the core ps3 will retain most functionality of the ps3 you might be mistaken, sony has had so many conflicting press relweases i dont quite know whats true and isnt from what ive heard the core ps3 wont be upgradable at all and the good one will like a pc or some crap like that. sony is trying to market the ps3 as a "PC replacement" and in doing such are reaming themselves in the butt. i dont like sony, never have and never will, i despise their business practices and behavior to the consumer and all their BS. am partial to nintendo and tolerant of the xbox/360. and nothing anyone can say would convince me that the ps3 is in any way superior to anything else available in the consumer market

I dunno, that is quite a strange guess on costs. I'd say just wait.

Also, when you made a point, it seemed like the prices for each console you listed were MAXED OUT as far as accessories go. The wii/ PS3 controllers price hasnt been listed (although we can expect around 40$) the the "lightgun" is just a regular controller in the shell, I really have no idea how nintendo is going to play this one out. Selling the shells for the guns, wireless wiimotes, classic controllers, etc. is a strange move, but I think that is going to make money. Prices are a mere speculation, and of course you're entitled to your opinion, but I'm not a fan of speculation because it leads to many false hopes.
