Triton wrote:you can build a decent gaming rig for less than 600$ not high end by any means but ok. and if you think that the core ps3 will retain most functionality of the ps3 you might be mistaken, sony has had so many conflicting press relweases i dont quite know whats true and isnt from what ive heard the core ps3 wont be upgradable at all and the good one will like a pc or some crap like that. sony is trying to market the ps3 as a "PC replacement" and in doing such are reaming themselves in the butt. i dont like sony, never have and never will, i despise their business practices and behavior to the consumer and all their BS. am partial to nintendo and tolerant of the xbox/360. and nothing anyone can say would convince me that the ps3 is in any way superior to anything else available in the consumer market
question, what part, other than the HDD, IS upgradeable? I have seen pics of the core ps3 and the premium, and they both have HDD slots on the bottom, ofcourse there won't be an upgrade for HDMI in the core ps3, that really isn't practical. and no memory card slots, big deal, I already have a plug n' play usb card reader and so do most people with a computer, and the PS3 is compatable with card readers and flashdiscs so that is no problem. By the way, a decent gaming rig = a crappy one by next year, a PS3 means the best for the next 5 years.

ive heard ram/hdd/cpu etc upgradeablein the premium ps3, but sony tends to talk out their ass constantly, and pcs are upgradeable, and "best" is a matter of opinion, not a fact, i for one thing the ps3 is the worst in this next gen of consoles the wii being my preference for many many reasons over the ps3, aside from the baseline price point (at 250$ you can buy 2 wiis for the price of a baseline ps3 or at 200 you can buy 3 for the price of the premium ps3) and if you look at the results of the systems poll you will see that almost everyone that has taken the poll agree that the wii is the best, popular opinion, my only suggestion is get writing on your pro wii article pretty quick becasue this biased, messed up unfactual ps3 propoganda is almost as bad as what sony spews from their festering gob! (for more stuff search for playstation 3 on kotaku to see good summerys of all of sonys released crap and info)

I've really been giving this a lot of thought, but I may just go with a PS3. I go where Square-Enix goes; in the 90s, I was a Nintendo man, but after that, I went Sony (except for handhelds; NO ONE will beat Nintendo's handhelds, especially since SE is showing them some MAJOR love). So I guess I'll just save up with my job over the summer and get both!

That's only because it becomes the console standard. If computer games/hardware went in shifts, todays gaming comp would be the gaming comp in 2010.
Computers and consoles aren't comparable, period.

Learn math, dude. 500-417=$83, not $90, so even if you round, it still comes to $80 which is not >$90.

Who buys every accesory at launch? I'd just get 2 controllers and memory card (if not built in) and then gradually get more controlllers.

exactly you won't buy them at first, but eventually you will have them all because that is what you are supposed to do with a nintendo console, the PS3 and Wii are not so different, the thing is, if you have a PS3 you have to pay a lot at once, with the Wii you will pay a lot later. I think it is a really smart marketing tactic on nintendo's part, because you know that they make money on their controllers. oh and about that PS3 will be the best for 5 years, It is true, It will be the most powerful for the next console cycle and you won't have to upgrade it to get it to play all of the games, and all of that crap about ugrading the ram and cpu and stuff, everybody knows that Kutigari is an idiot, he says things that he thinks would be cool, but they don't happen, only believe what's on the slides behind him, not what comes out of his mouth.

You say that people with the ps3 won't pay later, you forget the games they should have a price around 70$ and thats quite a bit.

I think I'll take a leaf from 1984. Something is so because people allow it to be so. In reality, PS3 is the most powerful. But the majority of people are going for the Wii, so, Nintendo is more powerful, as they have a bigger fanbase or have the biggest growth in their fanbase.

And to be as biased as you are, I don't even know why we read your article. If you're going to be biased in your articles, don't bother linking them. If you are going to link something, atleast try to be impartial towards the different systems. You failed.

And you obviously didn't comprehend what I meant when I talked about console standards and such, because you kind of warped it into your little PS3 power trip.

XPCportables wrote:It's $500 for the core package, which is what I used for the comparison because People who buy a Wii won't have HD anyway so there. and also the controller thing is totally legit, who buys a Nintendo system that plans to play SSB single player  sorry about the Wii slamming, I will be writing more articles so the Wii praise will come, I actually intended to praise the Wii when I sat down to write this article, all of that stuff just kinda came to me as I was writing :)
Uh this time around they said that brawl will have a very good single player that isn't like the old ones... So um yeah I don't have 4 controllers for GC only 2, 1 for the 64, and 2 for snes, and 3 for the nes! I'm just saying that... But no one and I mean no one will buy four of every accessory... You just invite your friends over with theirs and play if needed.

Wii is small and will have good games. PS3 looks like a George Forman grill (and will likely get as hot as one).

Look, I know I'm not a mod or anything close to that caliber but this has got to stop. Fisrt of all the article is total BS. Anything that is written in their own opinion is obviously going to be false.

Second of all whoever worte the article (I don't know I don't want to read ALL of the posts) can't be accurate because they cannot predict the future. Things will lay themselves out as time goes on.

So to put this in short if you have nasty comments to yourself. You're not an industry insider so you don't have much of a say in this.
