Instead of comparing the two handhelds (they're apples and oranges anyhow) Let's compare the actual companies from your sales chart.Skyone wrote:Great example, right there.XPCportables wrote:not really, maybe in japan but not worldwide, the PSP is Pwning the DS worldwide.

As we can see Sony has 2 systems out there, and Nintendo has 4. GBASP and GC sales that week add up to 11080+32765=43845 for DS now add the GBA's tiny 623=44468 total nintendo sales that week with FOUR systems.Sales Chart wrote:DS 32,765
PS2 27,741
PSP 21,476
GBASP 8,522
GC 2,558
GBA 623
Now let's look at Sony's 2 systems.Both systems sales added together makes 49217.
Sony=49217
Nintendo=44468
Sony wins.

Yeh, I certainly find the total sales (handheld+console) to be irrelevant in this thread. Both markets are very different. How else do you explain Nintendo's tight hold on handhelds for over 15 years, yet their slip up in home console sales over time?
This is about handhelds, okay? Of course if you throw the PS2 sales in there Sony will have more total sales. It's only the hottest console of this generation. Even so, Sony has a lot of work to do if it wants to completely own the portable sector, which I don't see happening soon.
