That was a Basic STAMP, a microcontoller that can read basic and is very expensive. The 'shack inflation of prices doesn't help either.
A regular PIC Microcontroller can be as low as $5.

I'm currently modding my N64 and I'musing a red,green, and blue led to give me any colorI want.I am programming a PIC16F628 to vary each of their brightnesses by PWM.

You might think about that.

Mods:

light up the buttons
Light up the case
Paint it a color which was not available (Red?)
Make it able to use a NES controller
Move the battery and cart slots

You can add a floppy drive to it, but I guess that would cost more than $10 and I'm too lazy to find the thread that I saw it in.

My favorite kind of microcontroller is the PICAXE. Its a PIC with a special bootloader pre-flashed and understands a special kind of Basic. The programmer connects directly to two pins of the chip, and is just a couple resistors attached to a serial cable. Usually the PICAXE costs around $5 CAD for an 8 pin chip and up to $20 for a 40 pin chip. I buy them from http://www.hvwtech.com which is a company in Calgary.

I've decided to overclock it, paint it red, and maybe replace the "POWER" LED with a blue one

. Anyways, where can you get those 10mhz crystals mentioned in the GBC overclock page? Radio Shack? Also, what kind of LED should replace the red power one?

About the red case and the Blue LED, that would look a bit odd dont you think? Maybe like a light blue case and a blue LED. I dont know, just my opinion - I think a light blue case and blue LED would look Aw3S0m3z!!1!.

As far as the LED, pretty much any LED that is the same size should work. Go to radioshack and buy one of the 20 asst LED packages (they cost like $2-3 and are SO much cheaper this way and they are the same thing that costs like 1.79 a piece!) and then use one of the small ones. Only I dont think they ever come with blue. Usually green, red, white, and yellow is all they have.

Digikey #535-9065-1-ND is just like the one pictured in that tutorial, except it's SMD, nice and small. You may be able to actually FIT this IN the Gameboy Color.

Digikey #X057-ND is the exact same one pictured in the tutorial, it's pretty big obviously.

Oh, and it's really great with games like PokÃ©mon, where it takes an hour to get across the screen.
