Well, your SuperJoy may only have Mapper 0 ROMs, but if you put in a cartridge slot, it might work with all games. If they can do it with the Game Axe, you can do it.

sorry for asking yet anouther question

can you use a lager EPROM for everything? or do you have to match up the size?

and im a little confused on what memery type it has to be I know its the 27C but after that I see things like PLCC or DIP and I dont know what that means

I also cant figure out how to make a rom into what it needs to be to load it in ive been reading through this site http://nesdev.parodius.com/ but cant find it

Actually, Kevin Horton made the CopyNES, and Brian Provinciano made the devtendo. Although I guess both are pretty nice dev units.

I figured I would install a socket so you could swap out EPROMs with ease (I bet outhers have already tryed that its a pretty basic idea) that would probubley be the ezest way to make a multi cart I think, but a little stuck with the stuff I mentioned before isint there like an idiots gide to this kind of stuff someone could point me to

if soemoe helps me I will mail them some shiny change fresh out of my couch and cars floor ill evean wash it off so its extra shiny

btw dont get suckered into buying a expencive Eprom Programmer bulid one yourself http://www.qsl.net/iz7ath/web/02_brew/1 ... 01_eng.htm on second thought screw it buy one

One problem is that the SuperJoy III lacks the lockout chip so games like Kerby or Castlevainia III dont work.

As for Peppers' request for a guide, this is about the best you'll get. http://www.tripoint.org/kevtris/nes/index.html

Well, when I tested out the super joy III I got my Castlevania III worked fine, so I don't think it's a problem with the lack of a lockout chip.

Well someone said they couldnt get it too work, hmm guess I dont have to worry about that.

Oh and back to topic. Do you think that one of those socket that takes the EPROM and the ROM chip will fit into a standard NES cart? I'm just wondering if it would be to thick than.

It takes some rewiring, but you could solder a socket to the cart.

I think there may be a way to use larger EPROMs, but it is easier to use the same size.

I dunno if you can use anything else to hold the games....

For this you would use a ZIF socket... (Zero Insertion Force) Its used in carts where the eproms are switched around a bunch.

Well, you could use the sockets, but I'm not sure if the roms would fit into the cartridge then. You might have to cut a hole in the cart so there's room for the roms. I've seen most people that use sockets in the carts do that. It also allows for easy switching.

I was thinking it'd be cool to make my own custom board that had a mapper socket so I could swap mappers out too. Mappers come in all different shapes and sizes so I'd have to make some sort of universal mapper socket and adapt them all to it. But I think that could be cool.
