I bet you are all saying "OMFG NO WAI!" But you would not believe the strict logic behind this! On the revolution, it will be backwards compatible with the GC, correct? There must be a section on the board where The Gamecube hardware is, probably smaller. "OMFG YA WAI!" GCoac, discuss.

There is a 50/50 chance. I think nintendo will take backward compatiblity to a new level with this, and much faster. Remember, Nintendo focuses on value rather than getting their hands dirty in dirty money.

It matters really how powerful the system is...for instance a 3ghz pentium 4 cpu can't even emulate a GC close to full speed. The FPS is around 11 or so. I think if they do have GC backwards compatibility it would be through hardware, yet I might be mistaken because I don't know how powerful the revolution will be.vb_master wrote:Emulation.

Nah. Both the revoution and gamecube run on similar PowerPC (read: Non-Intel) systems, so emulation would not be very difficult to accieve. Also, a main board built only for the gamecube would just be asking for trouble. Personally, I'm wait'n for N64 on a chip, or an us/jap nintendo ique. i mean, hell, the genesis is already on a chip, why not the 64?!

The Revolution is going to use a PPC G5 CPU core(s) and ATI graphics chipset. If the ATI chip's core is similar to the one used in the GameCube there should be no software needed to run GameCube games besides the bios/firware.Klefmung wrote:I bet you are all saying "OMFG NO WAI!" I mean a part of the revolution required to be cut out. Or just portablize the whole dang thing and do it, but it would be giant compared to a measly gcoac!
