but I dont want to buy one ide rather make something myself
im not relly interested in a sound input although that would not be very hard so I might put that in
maybe if you dont know how but you got one of those things im my link maybe you could open it up and tell me what it has inside

I dont think there is a card reader that you can build, wouldnt even know how you'd get the cart adapter. Well look for the Compact Flash card adapter for the GBA (or SP), that should give you all you want.

dude, it's $29. For what it does, I'd say it's pretty killer. I mean, buying a GBA cart to rip apart and do stuff to would probably cost like, well, not too much less, and it'd take much more work.
Play-Asia has it for $27 shipped, if that helps sweeten the deal.

You might even find it cheaper. I don't think the GBA has a video in pin on the cart pinout, but I can't seem to find the cart pinout at the moment. Anyway, I'm fairly sure this thing would suit one's needs far better than something built, though I could be wrong.
