The reason Macs have slower clock speeds is because they run on PowerPC processors, which are completely different from Intel architecture.
Intel processors need 22 processor cycles to complete an operation. Macs need 7. So macs can complete tasks about 2 times as fast as a Pentium 4 with the same clock speed. So a new Mac runs about the same as a 3.5ghz Pentium 4.
You're comparing apples and oranges. (no pun intended.)
Besides, there are a lot more factors in determining a computer's speed than cock speed. There's bus speed, L2 processor cache, and numerous other factors.
Also bear in mind Windows XP can use up 128 MB of memory by itself, I don't think that's the case with OSX...
And don't they come with something like CorelDraw now or something? (and there's always freeware for programs. And MS Paint sucks. It destroys image quality if you save images as anything besides a 24-bit bitmap.
