Just make sure you use something to control the volume. (Add a stereo sound pot or use headphones with an inline volume control.) Line level audio pumping through headphones is loud .
Thanks for the heads up. Having a control pot would be preferred. I've got a few last questions if anyone ...

Re: Is it possible to add a headphone jack to a console ?
Plenty possible. Just wire it to the av out.
It's really that easy? So tapping the signals directly off the av out jack to the pins of the headphone jack with no additional circuitry?
Would the tapping point of the ground signal matter?
Thanks for replying, I really thought this would be much ...

Is it possible to add a headphone jack to a console ?
I had someone ask me about this the other day and I wasn't sure. Is it possible to add a headphone jack to a console (not a custom made portable). Just speaking in general.
I've seen some information about adding one to the SNES model 1 that has the separate APU sound module, but haven't found ...

Question about: Adding leds inside console systems
Just a general question here. When adding leds to an existing console (not a portable) for aesthetics do I just hook up to the +5volts in and a ground point and add a resistor to vary the brightness level?
I want to make sure that's all I need before I start messing around.
Thanks for any info!

General capacitor question
I've been repairing video game systems for awhile now and was wondering if a capacitor that's on the pcb is totally dead, and I turn the device on and try to use it, is there a possibility of damaging the pcb or other components?

Stock Snes having audio and lock up problems
(Updated post with better info.)
I recently picked up a free Snes that I thought I'd play around with. Unfortunately while play testing it I discovered why it was free - the audio isn't working properly and some games freeze up (at the same point in the game every time).

Thanks for the input. In between what you have said and leafing through the thin manual on the mm I can now check resistors properly :D
I realized that part of what is tripping me up is the fact that I'm not familiar with the measurements: how many Ohms = K Ohm, etc etc.
