Well, I have no experience in hardware whatsoever, and I'm only 13. I know how I'd do it, but I would need someone else to do it for me. I'd be better off doing an NES or SNES as my first hardware project of any source.

Thanks for the encouragement though.

This project is officially dead. The last thing I ever did was remove the a/v and power plug, and that's it. I should start with something simpler, like an NES.

Just went to Radio Shack. Got the 7805, the 220 ohm resistor and the 470 ohm resistor. I think I'm ready to build. I have a workstation set up so that I can get the project done

EDIT: Wait! I could get a 7812 and use resistors with that! That would probably work, right?

So do you use 2 7805 together to make a 7808?

I just searched the Radio Shack page. They have 7805 and 7812, but not 7808.

I got everything I still needed at Frys, except for the 7808 (that they didn't have) and the toaster (all the models had 2 spots for toast, not just one long one). Oh well...at least I know radio shack has what I need. I might be going there today, if not today then tomorrow.

I'm going down to Fry's today to buy:

-Heatsinks (do I really need to explain this?)
-7808 (for the screen)
-Different soldering iron tip (the current one is too big)
-Dremel (to cut the case and stuff)
-AC Adapter (for charging)
-Headphone extention cord (that's the plug for charging the N64 ...

is the jumper/expansion pak in the slot? Probably, but that's what happened to me, so just double check that

12 AA rechargeables = 9.6v = not too far over the voltage of the screen. Would it still work though?

Yeah. This is my first portable, and I know that frying has happened to many other people, but I still have a good spirit. BTW the batteries are actually 2500mAH, not 2100mAH. To put modules on ipodlinux you must download the file with the module in it, then place it at ipod/usr/lib. Simple as that. But your ipod needs to be activated for disk mode.
