Help with Ipod Linux

hi.. does ipod linux make another partition on your ipod? or does it piggyback the original?

Do a software update for your iPod. if there is none, just use iPod Wizard to trick iTunes into thinking your iPod is a lower firmware

k, im trying to install linux with the Installer 2.. after i make the backup copy of the files on the ipod, it ALWAYS has an "error"...

No, that does not delete the partition. You must restore the iPod.

iPOd linux does not as you say, partition.

It edits the existing firmware on the iPod, and places a botloaderinside it.

This then points to the linux files on the root of the ipod.

Restore the iPod to remove it, not update. The updater will not be able to read the firmware on the iPod, it will crash.

To put modules on ipodlinux you must download the file with the module in it, then place it at ipod/usr/lib. Simple as that. But your ipod needs to be activated for disk mode.

So that's why I've done what I've said many times and it has always worked? And yes, it does partition the Hard Drive/Flash. You would know this if you were trying to install iPL before Installer 2 (When you needed Linux to partition the hard drive/flash)

To get a module on the iPod, use Installer 2. It has a database in which you can tell the installer to download and install whatever modules you want.
