I found out that I would need a 11 kOhm added to the direction pin so that the total resistance would be around 16 kOhm (5 kOhms from the analog stick's pot plus 11 kOhm). That way, when the stick is moved in direction needed, it will lower the total resistance ...

I dont know why, but I got it working again. I bought another PSone screen off ebay and I used the lcd of the new one I just bought and used the power supply that came with it and it worked. I then swapped the lcd with the old one and it worked too! I guess it was a problem with either the power ...
