utopia boot disk compatability
somewhere i found info on what dreamcast versions allowed the utopia boot disk to work, but for some reason i cannot find it anymore.
does anyone know the info or where i could find it?

Look at the label on the bottom of the DC. If there is a circled "1", then it can play burnt CDs. If there is a circled "2", then it cannot.

See this is why I downloaded the utopia2nero program. It coverted the utopia cd image in to one nero can read and I have yet to have a problem. I have only burned 3 games, but that is still a good sign.
Also look on google for a way to make/add dummy files to the iso. Reason being if you have this dummy file at the start of the disc it saves the GD-rom from going bad. And if you dont know dummy files are files that have nothing but 0s in them.

I have a Dreamcast with a circled 2 and it plays burnt disc's un moddified.
I run DC Linux on it.
Its a OCT 2000 Model.
Possibly the very early ones could do it, that or its just the case?

Discjuggler is all I use, never had a problem

for burning DC roms and stuff, including Disc juggler images and selfbooting images use alchahol120% because if i remember right DJ can only burn at 1x
