power...what am i doing wrong!
i just got a brand new nus001 board
ive tried 2 battery configurations
one with a 12V source (8 AA), and a seperate 3V source(2AA)
the second a 12 volt source wih a 3v converter
for both, when i connect it up, the red power light comes on, but i get no video, i believe the video is contolled by the 12 v line right? because the power light does come on with only the 3 volt line attached!
ive studdies may diagrams explaining this, and im pretty sure ive done it correctly
why cant i get video!!
im positive my board cant be friend
ive had it for like 10 minutes!!
thanks!
eric

sounds like a 3V line problem to me. Try 3 Rechargeables in series (as daguuy suggests), that'd give you 3.6, which hopefully wouldn't fry it. I belive NUS-001's can take up to 5V on the 3.3V line, but DON'T try it until someone can confirm that, as I'd hate to be responsible for someone frying there board.
Mine also comes on with no video, but I did try and move the cart slot. I'm pretty sure its still working, but just can't get it to. I also removed the power connector, so can't see if its down to dodgy wiring either. Once i get a new one I can carry on with my portable, but it's taking a while to come, cursed eBay.

it works!!
i used a rechargeable battery from a cordless phone and it works great!
i figured out why my 3v line coming off my converter didnt work- it only put out 300 ma max, that is not 1.5A therefore, no go
so ive got to either get a high power converter (another 30 bucks) or use 2 seperate power supplies
anything cheaper i can do to get 3.6 volts from my 12 volt power supply?

well, i had EXACTLY the same problem, and then i tried the jumper pack fixxy idea, and that made it worse... fried the 12 V w/e, light didnt even come on. then as i walked away my leg got cought on the A/V cord and it ripped the mobo half way across the room, then i started desoldering random parts from it in protest, to this day im still waiting for a new n64 to arrive at EB

if you wanted a separate power supply you could use a PSP battery:
