an easier way is put a switch on the internal controller wire/wires. if you have one of those switches that switches 2 lines you should probably switch power and data. i don't know if just switching ground would work but it might

Thats a Double Post Double THrow (DPDT) switch. Get one of those, then wire it in. You could probabbly use a Single Post Doble throw (SPDT) since most devices hav a common ground. Just break the ground lead from the Portables controller and switch it to the Port...

does it have to be switched? an't you just do this;

I was under some strange illusion I could just do it that way, but it has to be switched? What should be switched power and data? or ground?

I was going to integrate a system link port that allowed for external controls as well, but it will have to be switched? bugger.

ground would probably work. if you have them both connected at the same time it might bow a fuse or something because it was only made to support one controller at a time
