I know this. Thats why I changed to thicker wire. I now get the max voltage that the pth08080 gets with a 2k resistor.

Yeah, lower wire gagues (thicker wires) are better at carrying power than thinner (higer wire gagues).

Home wiring wire ranges 3-14 AWG* from Speaker wire 10-22 AWG, ethernet 20-24 AWG, telephone 22-26 AWG, and 30 gague ... low voltage signals, I guess.

If you scroll down to the calculator on powerstream.com and enter {30 AWG, 1 ft, 3VDC} you will see a drop of 0.211 V, where as 18 AWG will drop 0.013 V.

Using four bits of 30 AWG in parallel willdrop that drop to 1/4 (0.053 V) since the crosssection will increase 4 times, (equivalent to 24 AWG).
I'll spare the fancy math and suggest doubling up the speaker wire to see if that brings you that last bit of voltage.

*I've seen 16 used, but it isn't reccomended.

I'm guessing something like: box + N64 controller ports + wire + spraypaint ..right? :D

Nicely done! :D. I cant wait to see this baby finished. It would have been cooler if that 4 player box was usb instead of vga sortof like shockslyers 6th. Its just more common. Other than that it looks great!

usb only has 4 pins, and you need atleast 5 to get all 4 players to work.

An 8 pin USB would work, but it doesn't matter now that he has already assembled it
