Did you even read/comprehend my last post?
Is it because of stupidity or stubbornness you refuse to realize the difference between copying and stealing? As I explained earlier, inflation is a much better (truthful) analogy to piracy.

Edit: Following the same logic, adblock is stealing too.

Nope. Taking a product without paying is stealing in my book.

Yep. I don't run adblock. You are keeping Beer away from Ben when you use adblock on this site. You sick bastards.

How about this.

Copying is to pirating (yaarg) as stealing is to...stealing!

Don't care at all, I will pirate whatever I want for personal use and nothing will ever stop me from doing it.

I'm cheap and since I have no job and I am attending High school, I have no money or source of income. A failing economy doesn't help much either.

Why should I not be able to have fun just because I can't afford to?

The only system in my house that has all legit games is my Xbox 360 because I am not going to get banned from XBL. Xbox 360 is pointless without XBL.

Fun Fact: The first pirated piece of software I have ever "owned" is Nero 6 by ORiON. My Uncle gave me it when I modded my Xbox so I could burn my games. I've given it to a few people, I think it might have been gamemasterAS's first pirated app too.

This should sum everything up

Stealing is walking into a store and dropping a couple candy bars into your bag.
Piracy is walking into a store and cloning the candy bars and bringing those home with you.

i agree with nitro on this one, yes piracy is not legal but no piracy is NOT the same thing as theft.

theft= somebody has a dollar, you take that dollar leaving them with no dollar
piracy= you see that persons dollar, make a photocopy of said dollar thus devaluing their dollar by having a non legal duplicate of said dollar.

you are not depriving something from the person, you are not taking money out of their pocket you are simply not purchacing something you did not intent to purchase regardless leaving the status quo relativly unchanged. yes some people activly decide not to buy something and to pirate instead but of the people who pirate i would estimate that far from 100% had the means or intent to purchase the software legally then found the "free" alternative.

not every pirated copy of a piece of software is a lost sale

Valium almost has it
piracy is like originally buying those candy bars, THEN cloning them

Except you're not buying anything when you pirate stuff.

I'm sorry but this unwarranted sense of entitlement is the thing about my generation that annoys me second most. (First being the collective taste in music.) If you can't afford it, either earn it or settle for something else. That spoiled "I want it so I get it" attitude is partially to blame for the failing economy; people took out loans on top of loans to afford fancy things they otherwise could not get, and quite frankly they never needed them.

I think the way a lot of people see it is that they have two options: 1) pirate it and don't buy it, or 2) don't pirate it and don't buy it. Either way, the publisher doesn't get any money, so it's apparently ok.

I never block BenHeck ads. I can live with them, really. I block offensive, naked, noisy, bandwidth intensive and CPU-heavy ads.

So we agree that Pirating software is

1. Wrong
2. Illegal
3. Unethical
4. Douche bag move

Ok its not EXACTLY like stealing but its pretty darn close.

I agree with Bic 110%
