Id like to know how to make a mini portable ps2 need help :)

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

First learn to solder, then move on to something simple an really cheap cause you being 13 I assume that you don't have loads of cash to throw around and this is/can be a very expensive hobby, bens book is really kick butt for advice and most of it can be applied to other stuff other than the projects he builds, also if you are dead set on doing a ps2 first go to the ps2 board and ask for advice in there, again, this can be a really expensive hobby and you don't wanna be burning up 5 or 6 ps2's before you get it right and some of the really experienced folks have burned up several in the process of building their own, and if you come across something you can't find using the search feature (and I advise this a lot) then ask a clear concise question, most of the folks around here are pretty friendly and will help you loads

You've heard it before, but I'll say it again: You WILL break things, and you WILL spend a lot of money, so make sure your wallet is heavy so your heart won't be. Another thing, practice makes perfect! I see you're doing an SNESp first, a pretty good choice. But if I were you, I say go for a NOAC portable. They're very easy, and they give you basic soldering skills and electronics logic as well. You can get really cheap LCD's for one and actual NES units with controllers to hack up for even cheaper. The NOAC over SNES recommendation is not so much for ease of portablization (though the NOAC is easier), you could probably start with a SNES portable. But Super Nintendo's, especially the mini's and FC twins, are quite pricy, and the option I've given you here is much cheaper. Just some food for thought.

Another thing that is key to remember is that getting the electronics to work is impressive, but the case is what sells it. It has to look nice, and if you're going to bother building portables, at least give making them look nice your all. If your all happens to be ugly, that's just fine, we all have to start somewhere. My earliest portables were ugly, too, but at least I tried to make them look good. Again, something to think about before you rush in there. Good luck!

*Man, how many times have we given this speech now, I think I'm going to make a compilation of things for portablizers to consider before they start and have it stickied somewhere, we need it! :P *

Dang, beat me to it! Though you're not alone, I literally just posted how to do it in another thread. When we get that new programming section up, we really need to have a more prevolant BBCode guide, there's one on here somewhere, but it's hiding. :P

This is...still in the "Portable Screen Hacking" section.
Valve is the best company.
