)Anyway, I took it apart and gave it a clean-up (dirt and hair [ugh!] in the disc tray mechanism was jamming everything up) and it will play PS2 games and DVDs just fine. However, it won't spin PS1 games properly. Whenever it loads one in it tries to spin, but the disc seems to "slip" off the plastic bit that holds it in place for spinning.
My guess is that this is happening because the CDs that PS1 games are printed on are physically thinner than the DVDs that PS2 games are printed on. As such, is there anything I can do to help remedy the situation? I've got the top off the PS2, so there's not much I can't do to it at this point. I guess replacing that portion would work, but I'd need to get my hands on another busted PS2 to do it and I don't want to put any money into this thing at all.
Anybody played around with this at all? Know of any ways to help that little plastic hat do it's job better?
