It's not that they don't know what they're doing or that they make bad decisions, it just that if you have a public school, unless they get a grant or private donation, since they use government money, they (almost) always have to settle with the lowest bidder. So if a company offers to do the computer stuff for your school, or someone will take an administrator job for cheaper, unless your school can prove that they are unqualified or somehow unfit for the job, they have to take that offer.

It's similar to why a lot of schools don't allow checking email or playing games on school computers. My school gets a Tsomething connection (pretty good, but slow with our comps) and it is "unethical" for them to allow you to do that since it's paid for with government money.

yeah, though it costs more money for the filters that enforce those rules

I think that my school is almost as good as Beulls, but it's smaller (I think), so it's harder for our school to justify getting some of the things that his has. We only have macs in the Video Production lab. We have twelve that are actively used, along with some others that are only used to show us things every once in a while, like when a computer with a certain program for learning some video things is down or something. All of our classes have had projectors for atleast three years now, I think. We're actually on our second round of them. We've got newer, better ones.

I think that my school is quite good enough for me.

Well I think stand by my comment, as my last year at school a whole year after they got a 5 million dollar grant they say they need to make cut backs. I'm sorry but if you have that money and you properly plan out how your going to use it with in the restrictions of the Grant I dont see a problem. I've said this before and I think they should do it as a school it see if I'm right or wrong and that is have the students try running administraions and other office duties to see if we can or cant do it better.

Another problem is no one wants to tty a new idea of thinking, look at Detroit. They're looking at 1000s of jobs to make the city still work.

Really we need a new way to teach in general as this one isnt working. I know were the minority as we found outside influences to work off of.[/rant]

well, those grants usually need to be put toward something in specific. For example, we got a grant or something a several years ago for brand spankin' new iMacs, but most of our paper was donated scratch paper because my school couldn't afford new stuff.

Yeah, I've broken through every security measure in my school so far except for cracking into the PIX box.
On another note, I got LTSP running today! I still need to configure xdmcp though, so right now it command prompt only :)
