I think I remember someone saying that C:\ was the best place to install the dash, so you can have plenty of room on E:\ since it's the only place to install games, apps, and emulators on a stock HD.Rellizate wrote:Choose the one with the original dash on. I think that is C:\

step 1: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-194.html
step 2: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-170.html
step 3: build a usb port for your xbox. there are a number of different ways of doing this I took the detachable end of a controller cut off one end and soldered a female usb port on to it. It works great! I now have a 512 memory card. Beware that some thumb drives do not work! If you need more assistance please let me know.

I don't need to make a USB Port, my friend has a Action Replay and Gameshark plus a M$ made memory card. I think I can just use the transfer software, in Softmod Installer Deluxe v2.0, the compatibility with transfer has been fixed.chanticlair281 wrote:step 1: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-194.html

You would need to lock the hard drive to your motherboard, and what if your friend's hard drive is dead? If you go to the trouble to lock a different drive, you might as well get a bigger one.A_Username wrote:My friend has a dead xbox (bro punched it after playing halo and getting owned) with a HD, if I screw up, I can just swap HDs right.vskid wrote:You could always modchip it if you screw up the hard drive.

No. You can leave them where they are. Also, after you mod it, don't delete the exploit! If you fudge something up, that needs to be a fallback, as you will still probably be able to boot into games.A_Username wrote:Do I have to delete all the saves on the HD before preforming the softmod? Oops, I need to be more specific, I meant delete my OLD 007 save to make room for the new save that LOADS the exploit.lifeisbetterwithketchup wrote:No. You can leave them where they are. I was thinking that if I totally F'D the HD, I could swap with the one out of the other xbox. The punched Xbox boots it just won't load games, the drive is all screwed up. Swapping HD's is only a last resort though. In case the original one gets screwed up during the mod.vskid wrote:You would need to lock the hard drive to your motherboard, and what if your friend's hard drive is dead? The only way to do this is tricky: you have to start up box 1 with the working HD, and right after you hear the DVD drive start to spin, unplug the IDE cable (not the power cable) from the back. Then plug it into box 2 really fast (so that the HD is still drawing power from the box 1).A_Username wrote:My friend has a dead xbox (bro punched it after playing halo and getting owned) with a HD, if I scew up, I can just swap HDs right.vskid wrote:You could always modchip it if you screw up the hard drive.
At the beginning of the boot up sequence, the xbox will unlock the HD. What you're doing is pouncing on it when it is unlocked, and plugging it into the other one.
BTW, some drives have 10gb, and some have 8gb, which leaves you with almost no room. I'd suggest just getting a 40gb drive off ebay, I did and it only cost me $17.
I got a new 160GB hard drive for my PC for $65, the only problem is you have to do stuff to access more than 137GB. Make sure its IDE, most new hard drives are going to SATA.joevennix wrote:BTW, some drives have 10gb, and some have 8gb, which leaves you with almost no room.
