Thanks for the info, if I can get one of my NES running I'll try the mod on it.

Is there a way so you dont have to buy a new oscilater?

Yes, probably, but "to buy a new oscilater" is the easiest way.

Not really, unless you want to build a multiplier or divisor for the clock. There aren't any other usable signals onboard. :(

/|\ Nope
Edit:
Now that I think about it, the noac does have a crystal on it, so if you replace it with a higher frequency one maybe.

You'd be raising video and audio clock, plus many other things out of spec. If it did boot (unlikely) it wouldn't work with a 50 or 60 Hz TV. You'd need to use a downscan converter and a whole bunch of other messy crap to get it working properly. And since the NOAC is so horrifically inaccurate as it is, I couldn't relate to putting too much work into that. Esp. with the low cost of a real NES.

This is beautiful and sounds easy enough for even me to pull it off. Thanks!

Oh, and does anyone have links to some suitable oscilators?

For what reason would you overclock your NES? Would it allow it to run better when more sprites are on the screen and things of that nature?

It reduces lag and loading time it takes for things, I dont know maybe even speed up saving games.

His site has comparison videos that clearly show it descreases or totally eliminates slowdown in games.
