THIS IS A PROGRESS THREAD!!!!!! Now that that's out of the way, i was looking back at OLD posts of PS2p's before the slimline came out and was wondering what other peoples ideas were. I looked at a few posts and saw Gannon's thread. I realized that the only thing from makin MY case a total of 1&1/2" instead of 2" [this would just be the top half of an old ps2 case] and look totally mean is the hugemungousness of the DVD drive, and the bottom ribbon connector for the controller port.
That sticks out 1/16th of an inch too far if i cut the case flat. So ive decided to buy another case and see if i could slimmitize the drive and make it load from the right side. Like so

This CAN be done, just with some Dremel skill, and lots of Mug Root Beer.

I need opinions on this, just to see if it would be cooler to have a right side loading DVD tray on a portable, but mainly when the system is on your lap and if you somehow press the eject button it could hit your stomach and cause internal gaseous combustion.
EDIT: Further arrangement of the laser unit would be arduous and time consming. I'm just going to go with the front load, after seeing the laser arm would overlap the motor for the disc tray. oh well
