You could use a camcorder battery, but you have to make sure its output is 9V. Anything less than that could cause distortions. If you stated what kind of screen it is your using, I could make more specific reccomendations; however, your portable will be large with a 7" screen simply because of its large power requirement and the overall surface area your screen will take up.
I think bigger screens are generally awsome (hell i'd take an NEC if someone threw it at me
), but in portables they bring about more obsticles than advantages. Why not go with a PSone screen? The resolution is excellent, it's small, and to buy one off of ebay is a steal (~$40).
Anyways, in terms of the battery, it will have to either be a large capacity NiHM or a Lithium Polymer battery (which i'm using, 9600mAH in mine
). However, mine were expensive because they were small at 7.2V; yours will be larger because of the 9V requirement.
I hope that was helpful

1) Slap your friend across the face for buying an ipod. They're made to fail after a year or two, regardless of how well you care for them.
2) Slap him again.
3) Go buy him a Creative Zen or something.
