I am trying to solder wires from the gold pins to the contacts on the pcb of the expansion pak. Making the connections without shorting the contacts with solder is extremely difficult (I am using a cheap craftsman soldering iron). I cannot have the pak standing straight up as it is supposed to ...

Relocating the damn expansion pak

Ok, so i tried to relocate the pak by taking the metal heatsink off of it as well as the port cover on the N64 Mobo. This exposed the gold pins, which i unsuccessfully tried to solder to the corresponding points on the expansion pak PCB. The issue I have is that i cannot have the exp. pak plugged ...

TitaniumHamster, my diagram is wrong. There should be no diodes on ground. The easiest way (which i am going to use) is to get a DTPT switch and wire it per daguuy's diagram. That way, you can interchange between your battery system and the charger. HOWEVER, note this: it would be a effing mistake ...

You make it sound as if you can swap the PS joystick with the N64 with no problems; is this true or am I assuming way to much because i really don't want to have to deal with more complex wiring?

Yes, dremels will make your work a lot easier and save you many painstaking hours of X-acto knifing so I'd highly suggest picking one up. If you're too cheap to buy a Dremel brand rotary tool, you can just go for a cheaper brand at a store like Target. I have a Durabuilt brand rotary tool and it ...

james, which controller did you use because i am trying to find a joystick with a smaller housing (the containment box that you move the joystick within, the original N64 controller box is huge)? If you can help me, i'd be greatly appreciated.

Controller You Can Use

I need to know what controllers besides the original N64 controller you can use...Can you use a gamecube controller?

BTW, i have heard of an official small nintendo 64 controller known as the "Hiro". I just need to know if anyone had heard of this and/or know where i can get my hands on one if it ...

Chrono, if i wasn't such a perfectionist, i would probably settle for a project box. Although they do look really good when done correctly, i want mine to look professional.

Which reminds me, does anyone know where i can find a smaller joystick housing (not the actual joystick, the unit that ...

My former doesn't have a grill; i figured my oven would do the trick (much to the dismay of my parents). I bought a sheet of heavy aluminum from Sears and some splicers so i can fashion some brackets that will hold the frame containing the polystyrene in place in the oven.

I think yours and mine ...

Heh, yeah I know what ya mean. I ordered mine Friday, June 2nd. So I've been waiting 10 days now. The only reason why I want it quick is because I'm going on vacation for 6 days on the 16th, and I don't want it delivered to my house if I'm not in it :P Did you order from indplastic?

Yeah, I did ...

If I weren't leaving high school next week to go off to college JarJar, i'd probably do that too. BTW, that plastic was a steal (eHobbies had 3 sheets for $20, psh you can guess how fast i cancelled that order lol).

EDIT: Minkster, how long have you been waiting for your plastic? I ordered UPS ...

You'd have to find a switch that would interchange between two serial connections or something to that effect (which i don't even know if such a thing exists, anymore at least...). Maybe for printers, but that would be for old school pre-USB printers. Either way, it would be bulky and troublesome to ...
