Gameshark BUILT IN! (?)
Since I got a gameshark on the cheap, I was thinking of puting the circutry into my 64p, so not only would I have gameshark BUILT IN (extra coolness) but I would have another addition to my cart slot dislocation. However, then i started reading about shoddy construction and errors associated with these things. So, simply, If you were me, would you build a Gameshark into your N64p?

heh, we think alike.Klefmung wrote:Or you could make a switch that bypasses the circuits directly to the cart slot or something.
I was thinking of that, but I would need not only find ground on the 64 cart pinout, but also divise a system that would allow the data to pass through the shark without changing the data...
Id just keep it intact, and relocate the cartridge slot normally and use it normally. The thing is, I would put the slot on say, the back? or bottom of the portable. that way, you could put it in a place where it could slide in.. oh heck. Picture time.
Here. My idea would be to have it all slide down the back.

If that makes any sense.
Cuz like you said, what if it breaks?

You'd have to find a switch that would interchange between two serial connections or something to that effect (which i don't even know if such a thing exists, anymore at least...). Maybe for printers, but that would be for old school pre-USB printers. Either way, it would be bulky and troublesome to wire, and that'd definatly would anger you to the point of throwing the closest blunt object you can find.
EDIT: A word of caution about gamesharks: I once owned a gameshark and i used it on another person's N64. I turned the game on, and it wiped my gameshark clean of memory (aka the black screen of death). I think another person on this thread recalls the same thing happening. I have also heard (but this is NOT confirmed) that hard wiring your GS to a N64 could cause errors the RAM used for the GPU.
Like they told you (or didn't tell you) in school about drugs, just don't do it.

1) Slap your friend across the face for buying an ipod. They're made to fail after a year or two, regardless of how well you care for them.
2) Slap him again.
3) Go buy him a Creative Zen or something.

Or you could wire it to both the normal cartridge slot and the game shark. Have a switch that chooses between which cartridge slot the power goes to.
