If you've got a Mac mini hooked up to a television in your living room, you'll be able to see the media that you've got on every machine you've got hooked up to your network in your house. And, of course, the Mac mini comes with iLife 06... widely regarded as the best in the industry. (SHOWING OFF iLIFE APPS) Let's look at the standard features in the new Mac mini, Tiger and iLife 06, Remote and Front Row, Airport Extreme and Bluetooth, DVI video out, SPDIF and analog in and out.
That's basically saying if you have a computer hooked up to a network you can view the other comptuers on that network on you tv with this computer that has a tv tuner card. I hav a T.V. computer. I'm on it right now.
Kurt_ I don't think you'll be able to stream TV from a computer with a TV tuner card. And to clear things up, you can restrict what files are shared, or really you decide what files are shared. Both Windows and Linux don't have the hard drives open to the network, that would be bad.
As for the things it can do. I think I'd get a Mac Mini, if I had an LCD screen over 20" or an HDTV. The things you can do are not new anyways, they've had those bad in iLife '05 or even possibly '04.

An institution that is deticated to robbing you of money while having you attend classes you should have been able to take in high school or did take in high school.
As for the streaming tv, never heard that feature advertised. Besides I think MCE is nothing more then XP with a prettier GUI and costs an extra $100.
As for the Macs.... are all those features only avalible on OS X? Cause if you can some how get them with just Darwin... I'm going to have a wild time using it on a modded 360. After all they're selling the thing as a media center.

yeah im not exactly sure about streaming tv, but you can stream other things with the so-called 'extenders'.
aaand mce is bascially xp with a couple hundred megs of extra software. but they dont actually sell it as an upgrade, so i dont think anyone has a right to complain.
