Scratched Ipod

Post by Undisclosed »

SO i was searching and came across some ideas. Theres all this expensive stuff, but i guess the best thing to use is brasso and a lint free 100% cotton cloth. well i checked wal-mart and they had no brasso, but they did have a liquid metal polish that is safe and nonabrasive. Works on car/truck wheels, factory coated wheels, crhome, brass/copper, fiberglass and plastic. Should this work the same as brasso.

Why don't you just not care about it? It'll just get scratched again, and it's not like it affects it's performance.

In my experience, I have yet to have enough patince and arm-power to buff out any minor scratches from plastic or a finish, but I suppose it could work. Try it and find out.

my iPod is also scratched....the Black ones scratch up easier :( Anyway, there is this stuff you can buy, it's called iCleaner. It's 20 bucks for the Pro cleaner, and 3- bucks for the Deep scratch cleaner. Works like a charm :)

Put a little dab of toothpaste (normal toothpaste not gel or anything) on the screen and swirl it around with a dish rag. Since toothpaste is mildly abrasive it buffs the screen. I did this with my Ipod and it looks a lot better. The only problem is that you get a swirly patern on the screen that can be seen if you hold it at an angle to a light.

well when the screen gets so scratched you can read the titles of songs...

that might affect the performance...

Well this solves my problem, I have a scratch (rather big) on my iPod. And using a buffing/polishing/scratch remover compond soulds better then looking for a new face or that one mod on digg.

Just to tell you of it. Do a search on digg.com for an "ipod scratch" and it should be in the top 5. A guy too the face plate off a PSP and used it as one on an iPod. Yeah it's not easy, lots of filing and then cutting the hole for the click wheele. But hey if you want an almost unscratchable face thats the way to go.

I'm gonna order a skin and screen cover.....i'll put the screen protector on first, then apply the skin....and then buy a case for my iPod

Uhh....cant you get some water, and wash away the swirls, so it looks perfect. Also, will shoe polish work?

Um, sure, if what you're going after is really ugly black marks all over your screen or failing that, just a bad swirly pattern.

A car wax might work better.

I suggest a belt sander and some 50 grit sandpaper. That'll get rid of those nasty scratches
