i plan to make a ps2p from the original big ps2, can anyone tell me where to even start. If u can give me like a list of materials needed, some drawings of what i should make the case from, a cost range, what would be easiest (and best quality) to make the case from, basically anything that will help would be great. thx if u help

You will need;
a small PS2 motherboard, v3 or the last two version of the fat PS2 would work. Really best to use the PS2 slim.
DC-DC converter, you'll likely have to make your own too.
Screen, best to use the PSone.
Materials for case

That's about it. The things I left vague are either things you have to deside on or things others can answer better then me.

If you don't know what a PS2 motherboard is then you really shouldn't be tackling such a project :/

A Ps2 motherboard, is the Playstation 2's motherboard, the big thing on the inside that has everything plugged into it. Instead of a DC-DC converter, just buy a &808 regulator from digikey.com. It regulates the power flow. Hope this clears up your questions

I already said buy a 7808! And if you dont know what this stuff is, then you might want to start on something easier I'm not trying to stop you, just trying to reccomend and help you.

Ok, DC-DC converter is just a IC (integrated ciruit) or whole circuitry that takes an input DC (direct current) and will lower or raise the voltage and/or current (or called amps). This is needed for all portables as it helps regulate the voltage and in most cases you'll be using a voltage that is above the maximum voltage of the system.

The motherboard of the PS2 is the main board, or the largest. The v3 (or version 3) is the 3rd series of the PS2 design. It has two boards, both are about 6x6 inches. The last two versions of the PS2 were the smallest of the fat or old PS2. As I stated before the PS2 slim is the best opion, it uses 8.5v input, has a fliptop rather then a tray drive, and last is the motherboard is very small.

Well if you've already got the system, that knocks off a good chunk of the overall cost. The PSone screen that everyone speaks of can be found on ebay for usually slightly under 50 bucks. The battery + charger is another 30 and depending on how extravagent of a case you want + extra bits and pieces will cost you another 50 bucks. Of course you could make a real basic plastic or wood case.
