Post by goodie »

Using this pinout:

On the SuperJoy, which would be pin 1?

And which would be pin 1 on the nes 72 pin connector?

Does anyone know if that pinout will even work with a Superjoy? I have tried connecting it in many variations. But all I get is that dumb blank screen. Also my lik-sang adapter wouldn't work, so maybe the superjoy's cartridge pinout is slightly different than a regular famicom, that's the only thing I can think of.

While testing the superjoy yet again, I noticed that the batteries were getting rather warm. I don't know if that would have anything to do with the problem. Also, while leaving the 72 pin connector connected, I tried the built-in games, and the graphics looked really messed up. (Actually it looked kinda funny- I tried super mario bros., and whenever the screen scrolled it would show a duplicate of what was coming up at the left of the screen. If you wanna see it, I have a video here.) I think that pinout must be way off, or something. Maybe I should just use a regular nes board, even though it consumes more power. Any suggestions?

Man, that looks like the old days when I'd try to get a game that was blinking to work, and it would finally work... soft of. Maybe you somehow fried something inside the chip.

heh, I still have that problem now.......
also the zelda save files always get deleted :( (and yes, I hold in the reset button when I turn off the NES.....still screws up though)
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I got lucky a little while ago. I bought an inexpensive NES on ebay with a new cart connector already installed. It works like 99% of the time now. It's amazing.

I have used a 72-to-60 pin connector in my SuperJoy III to play Nintendo games and it worked fine. I have not however left the connector in while trying to play on-board games. I will have to give that a try.

About the batteries. Are you sure theres not a short. Battery get pretty warm when you attach + to - directly.

I think you'd notice if there was a short though....there's usually sparks and the system won't even turn on

yeah, the cart. battery is probably dead, but the game looked almost brand new when I bought it......(they probably just cleaned it up real nice, to fool me )

I think I've figured out the problem. I took a nes game that I didn't care about, and ripped it apart. Then I wired it directly to the superjoy. I tried it, and it worked! Well, sorta. It was extremely glitchy, but I think that was because some traces on the game got scraped off when I was ripping it apart. Anyway, this leads me to believe that all along the problem was the 72 pin connector that I got from my nes-to-fami adapter. I will probably use a connector from a game genie, hopefully that will make it work.
