Cart slot relocated

Cart slot relocated

Well, I needed to move my cart slot to slide down the back of my n64p, like a game boy. Hot glue wouldn't hold it so I switched to the old-fashioned method.

I used tin snips to cut up an old switchbox shield, and hole-punched holes for 6/32" machine screws.

This thing holds together like a tank, I'd recommend it to anybody needing to move the cart slot.

If you're wondering, yes I am making a new n64p.

Looks cool, I love the color scheme for the wires (I have gay uncles...). Any mockups of what the new case will look like? Also, what happened to your old one? Did it die?

marshall you are damn good at soldering. very organized with the wires also great job. one question were do you buy your wire?

EDIT: i bet you are vac forming your new N64p case and if it has as much effort as your great work pit into it i have a feeling it will look maybe even dkap like, good luck

1. I disassembled my old N64, because it had too many problems (short battery life, dim screen, mushy controls).

2. I sliced open an old parallel /printer cable and they have 21 long thin strands in them. Great for cart slots, they're also in rainbow colors :)

3. Yes, I am vacuum forming my case. I promise it will rival Ben's as far as aesthetics go :P

Well, in the picture thread he showed a picture of him and a fairly large piece of styrene, so he could just be cutting it...

He used pieces of cut aluminum and then drilled holes into it... Hope that helps...

heh, you should've asked to get that styrene cut, marshall :P. I did, and boy was I glad they cut it for me (no time with the exacto knife).

anyway, really nice cart. slot relocation. Reminds me of ben's, actually ;)...

can't wait to see yer N64p!

Heh At least somebody else caught on! :P Those things beat the IDE cables anyday! They're just so small!

Seriously, those wires were the only way I was able to finish me NES portable. Fitting the NOAC and the controller inside the controller itself was really difficult. Then I got those tiny wires off of an old printer cable, and I was able to cram it together.

As far as the wiring goes, I agree with turbo tax, that's a good clean job. :D

what do you meqan by printer cable? is it inside of the printer or outside?

parallel cord. it connects printer to computer. BTW, that looks great marshallh :D i have some extra various computer cables laying around, i'll have to check them out
