PSOne Screen after led modding

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSOne Screen after led modding

Post by Lycurgus »

Okay so my screen has been sitting around for about a week now while Ive been waiting for my leds to arrive. I've done the led mod, testing them out with a battery after I was done to see what they looked like (awesome)
But it seems I'm not getting 5v out from the regulators. 7.5v is going into it (tested with multimeter). I haven't jumped the fuse, I don't want to as of yet. Kinda want to do it as a last resort. Seeing if you guys know anything else I can try before I jump it. The 7.5v is coming off of a car adapter plug for cd players hooked into a 12v wall adapter. Also,
how much can you cut off the top of the board? Do you take off that rectangle thing as well 100 16v thingie? Cause I've cut it, I just hope I haven't cut off too much as to not making it work. :?

Either you're probing the wrong points on the 7805,or you power supply is mcuh greater than 7.5v.

Once you've done the LED mod, you can pretty much chopoff the top section.Just desolder the black SMTcapacitors and away yougo :)

Was probing it right, just that the fuse was blown after all that. Thanks for the advice though marshall. Got it all up and running. Don't know what system to put it on first :? N64, psone, or ps2. I suppose it'll be the 64 as I've already done all of the stuff for it except the controller. Relocated the cart slot. (not fun) but yeah.
