PSP to GP2X

Post by Joes2Silly »

I was looking around on the net about the GP2X, and I was wondering.... Should I sell my PSP to get a GP2X? Can anyone help me decide :?:

I'd say wait until more stuff comes out for the 2X. I think the PSP, if you have enough games, will be more fun than the 2X until the current stuff is made perfect, and new stuff is released.

It's a desition only you can make, One thing you can expect if you get a GP2x is worse gfx. The GP2x can't do 3d acselleration with it's hardware sevirly limiting it's ability to play 3D stuff. Also remember that the GP2x dosn't have as many commecial deveolpers... in fact only one. So you basicly have to live off Emu, ports of old games and homebrew that will never be as good as commercial games. Expect a lot more 2D fighting games for the GP2x.

Basicly it comes down to what your going to do with it. If your going to watch movies/play Mp3s it's a toss up. The PSP's screen allows you to play movies in widescreen and in a higher native resolution, as for Mp3s it's basicly the same for both systems. There both masive compaired to a normal Mp3 player but because I'm broke I use my PSP.

In terms of original content the GP2x can't beat the PSP mostly because the PSP has hundreds of game studios developing games left right and center. The GP2x just has a bunch of very dedicated fans who, lets face it, have jobs other than makeing games and a lot less money.

In terms of programs and homebrew the GP2X has it hands down. I mean it's open linux. You can do whatever you want really.

As I said it's up too you, both have distinct advantages and disadvantages. If I was you id just save up and get a GP2X. Don't sell your PSP.

Here's how I rate the greatness of a game:

Graphics: 10%
Sound: 10%
Controls: 10%
Gameplay: 70%

As you can see, it's been proven again and again, the slower and older console wins because of (usually) superior gameplay. That's what games are about, fun. Not graphics

You can disagree but I think the PSP is commercially eye candy. And the GP2x beats it for homebrew.

The GP2x has many commercial games in development. Its very very capable of 3D. Full speed PSX may be done soon as a bonus!

I say that PSP is better for pure gaming and media, the GP2x is very open source and customizable. It's a very hard decision...

I agree in the fact that it is an extremely hard decision. I also agree that gameplay is almost everything in a game. Both consoles have their pros and cons. PSP has great graphics and sound and a lot of commercial developers. The GP2X can make up for that in gameplay with homebrew. But because I'm poor and can't afford anything to begin with...I say a new computer lol.
I am awesome...No, I am not conceited, just extremely honest
