Hacking a Gamecube, what do certain Ports do?

Well, my brother is much better with hardware than I, and hacking a gamecube. He is close to finishing ( a portable ), and needs to know what serial ports one and two do, and the high speed port. He needs to know if he can nix them or not. Help please.

unless you want LAN/online gaming or the GB player, just desolder them or rip them off...I always do

tell him to buy one of those advance game players, it hooks up into the memory card port, they only cost like 15 bucks....and they're pretty good too.

yeah i used to own one, it's ok, but it only plays gba games tho......
