I got a few questions....

Post by chozen wun »

Im workin on a snes portable (a mini snes) and i got a few questions about wiring.

1.) where can i find out how to get RGB out of the SNES. i know there is a way and a site but i cant find it.

2.) what is the color coded wiring for the controller because i dont know what wire goes where on the board.

3.) what is the best way to go about re-wiring the cartidge slot and is it even worth doing and would it might brake my snes?

thanx

The cart slot has about 50 or so pins on it. Unless your willing to spend quite a bit of time desoldering, soldering and soldering. Really Turbo Tax's comment is one you should consider carefully, the only other thing to consider is that do you not want the cart sticking out (perpendicular) to the SNESp?

Really it's up to you, good luck.

You can have the regulator near them, but I'd be careful cause too close and the batteries might explode. If you are going to move it I'd suggest bonding it to a heatsink.

10 watts wont melt some kinds of solder. 30 is a bit high. Try for around a 20-25 watt iron

Sometimes there's a screw near the tip that you can unscrew to take the tip out. What my brother did was unscrew it, move the tip out until it was almost all the way out, and then screw it tight, reducing the heat that the very tip gave off.

45W (I think) is for stained glass solder, where the solder requires more heat to melt and there's no sensitive electronics in sight.

yea its not very good for electronics. im picking up a new one in only an hour but for now its working ok for rewiring the 7805. and lol, the solder im using is from 1976 =p. its probably toxic :-(

Grab some Rosin Core solder while you're getting the soldering iron. I wouldn't use the solder you have... who knows what it could have in it

lol i know. i have a fan on and a window open and the fan is blowing all the fumes away from me so i dont breathe that crap in. i finally finished rewiring the 7805 and making an adapter for RC batteries to the SNES. Now time for the controller.

Should i desolder the controller port off or just leave it and solder the controller to the bottom?

i know im asking a lot of questions too but im a half and half noob. this is my first project but iv been around since the first 2600 back in the day. i was going to make the first Coleco Vision portable and i even posted a quesiton on the old forums and no1 helped me (stupid power supply).

i got one more question lol; y are none of my games working other then Suoer Mario Land : Yoshis Island?? only the fx chip games seem to work. could it jsut be the batteries?

It could be because there's a loose/bad connection on the expansion ports (first 8 pins on the cartridge slot on either side). That'd be my guess. Check the games that work/don't work and see if on the bottom they have the extra connections.
