Generic School Rant 0.9 Beta!!!11

Post by gannon »

Actually, I dislike English and writing, so it's not much of a rant :P
I had 2 holes in my schedule for next semester, so my school decided to fill them in for me. They gave me an English class and Basic Windows....
If that wasn't bad enough, they won't let me switch them (I'm trying to see if I can get out of at least one of them as a teacher aid for my calc. teacher), and the principal said (about my complaint at Basic Windows), "What's wrong with an easy A?"

Yeah you really need to learn Basic Windows... Your school principal sounds pretty dumb. Well at least you can fall asleep in Windows class and still know what to do (assuming yours is as simple as what my friends take)

You know what I took a computer intro class in my first year of college (now it's being turned to intro Windows) and well it was easy there wasn't a thing I learned, same with my A+ software class. Really tell them that you want a challege. Or better tell them that Windows is just a physical embodyment of a "OS for Dummies" book.

Also didn't you mention that your school used linux for it's network? You could always try using that to an advantage.

Nope, they use mainly OSX (not bad, but the "tech admin" AKA Ex-Home Ec teacher, is an idiot. I went in and got root access earlier today using the OS default password  )
Last year I had adv. networking as a dual enrollment course, and did a lot of linux work there (the teacher, another student, and I setup a viable LTSP lab that could've saved that school a few thousand dollars, but the tech admin was afraid of linux it seems).

Funny cause my Intro Linux instructor told a story of getting his wife a G4 iMac. Long story short he hopped on and looked at the system (commandline) and exclaimed "I paid $2000 for Linux?!"

Well if the network is on OS X then see if you can use that. Take a Networking class, they're not hard and really as everything runs on Unix or a Linux distro you'll pass easily.

Unfortunately the only computer classes we have are Basic Windows, Adv. Windows { }, and WYSIWYG Web Design.
I have 3 classes that I want to take, but they only hold each of them once a day so I'm stuck with them at 1st, 3rd, and 6th hours. :(

That's unjust. Basic Windows...

That reminds me about the time I took a basic electronics class going in there thinking: "What are YOU gonna teach me that I already don't know?"
