Well... crap!

Post by Life of Brian »

Okay, so I'm having a problem with my snes mini board that is very similar to the problems Triton had with his snes (sadly, I know for a fact that my tv is working fine so no miraculous recovery for me just yet... :( ) I have battery power going to a 7805 regulator (a good 7.6 volts, which is just fine for a 7805 to handle), the five volts coming from the regulator is going to the snes where Ben suggests in his book, and the negatives from the batteries and the regulator are both grounded correctly. I've jumped the connection for the original switch and placed a switch between the batteries and the unregulated power in on the 7805, and I'm using the original AV jack to hook the thing up to my tv. Here's the problem - I turn it on, the screen does a kind of jolt like it normally does with fully operational snes, and that's it. Nothing follows - just a blank screen. I'm wracking my brain, and I'm afraid this a case of a fried board. What do you think?

Also, do the controller ports have to be connected at this time for the console to work?

1. The controllers don't have to be connected for the SNES to run.
2. Could you post a pic of your wiring as it stands, so we can check to see if anything is missing.

Sadly, my camera is at home, and I am not. I'll get pics first thing next week, I promise. I probably should have taken some pics before I posted. Okay, so everyone: tune in next week!
