a bunch of LEDs

i'm looking for places that sell bright white 3mm LEDs. i searched a lot and so far i found 1 place. here's what i found. has anybody gotten stuff from there before? how reliable is that? also, i'd like a big list of 3mm white LEDs so people can have a big selection to choose from without having to search all over the place. maybe if we get enough it could be added to the sticky?

hmm....wierd...those LEDs take 2.0 to 2.5V (max)....never seen LEDs rated for that low of a voltage (well, 3mm white ones, at least

Yeah, I bought them from there, I still haven't had the time to LED mod my screen, though. I was also concerned about the low voltage rating, but decided to get them since they're so cheap and their specs are good. The viewing angle is greater than any other LED's I'd seen, and the mcd rating isn't too shabby either. For the price, I'd say go for it, but I can't personally guarantee it myself.

Edit: I found site. Wow, these LED's would be really bright, and not too bad of a viewing angle, either. Shipping might be a bit more, since it's from the UK, but the LED's themselves aren't much.

I got my LEDs at a local electrial supply shop, not something like the source but a small electrical shop that just happened to be an a supply store for the digikey website. I would go to digikey and take a look at their vendor list, you might be able to find something close buy and save a couple bucks on shipping.

Cascade Surplus has a lot of cheap 3mm LEDs. I bought from them, but haven't LED modded my screen yet.

so if i power them from a 3v car adapter would a pot or resistor be able to lower the voltage for it? BTW, thank for the links people, keep 'em coming

Here's another site I found with decent LED's. Haven't ordered from them myself, but the specs look fine to me.

I bought mine from there - they shipped fast and the price wasn't bad at all.

Chances are, you only need a few. But if you're looking to buy some in bulk, (future projects, maybe?) you can get AMAZING prices on them from eBay.

If you even put a little bit of effort into it, you can probably find an even better deal.

? BTW, those are 5mm but i found plenty of cheap 3mm LEDs. also, about the voltage question i asked earlier, i tested it with some stupid green LEDs and the pot did make them work rom an 8.4v power source
