i really need some help with the hipgear's amp, i fried the one in my screen so i bought some of the same kind from mouser
i tried hooking it up like i think it said in the datasheet, i simply hooked up just the audio in/out grounds and my voltage, it kinda worked but i got a very very very weak sound. i think gannon said he messed around with these amps before, anyone who can assist please help me out here.
and here is the data sheet http://www.st.com/stonline/books/pdf/docs/1464.pdf im really not to good at reading these things so i think im missing something, thanks in advance
EDIT: if someone could draw a basic diagram for me on how to hook it up to a stereo pot and get it functioning it would help me out sooooooo much

from the diagram on page 4:
you should be hooking the audio inputs to "input + (1)" and "input + (2)" (pin 6 and
. the audio lines should be connected to ground through a 10Kohm resistor. "input - (1)" and "input - (2)" should have 100uF capacitors on them, which are connected to ground.
the audio output pins (output 1 and output 2) should be connected to a 470uF capacitor whose other end is connected to ANOTHER capcitor (.1uF), which goes though a 4.7ohm resistor to ground. you connect your audio output (in this case the speaker is represented by a resistor, RL) to the point where the two caps are connected together.
and of couse the audio ground is the same as the other ground, which is the negative side of your power source.

ok after a quick serach i cant find anything explaning stereo pots, but ill give you the knowledge to find out for yourself.
the symbol for a pot is this:

there is a resistive layer of something like carbon, and a slider that slides along it in a circle (the resistive layer is in the shape of a horseshoe inside the pot). the resistor is connected to contatcs at either end. the twisty thing slides the slider around, which itelf is connected to a third middle (usually) contact. imagine the arrow in that digram sliding up and down the symbol for a resistor. excellent
so now get your multimeter, and switch it to ohms, and watch how the resistance changes across sets of pins. you should figure it out pretty quickly.
now i believe when you are wiring them up for volume purposes, you connect one end of the resistor to ground, and connect the middle (the slider one) to your audio line between the amp and the speakers. the idea is you can short the signal to ground, thus silencing it. when the resistance is at a maximum (500Kohm i think), the volume is essentially 99% of the maximum and that is "full" volume. the other end of the resistor remains unconnected.
at least, thats how im used to wiring them... in guitars.

gah i feel so stupid i cant even wire up an amp the right way
my speakers started to smoke and im pretty sure i put it together right give or take a few ohms
i gotta a question for any one out there who wants to help a guy finish up a snesp? would you build me an amp
if you want i could send you some cash and the neccasary parts. im just fed up with the stupid sound on my snesp mkII someone please pm me and offer to help out or at least give me a reccomendation to an easier amp to wire
