Gamecube laptop

Post by portable_is_better »

I have everthing to make a Gamecube in a laptop, but I have some questions before I start.

1. Does the Gamecube run on 3.25 Amps or am I looking at the wrong number?

2.Will the Gamecube still run if I get rid of the part that has the inputs for the internet adapters and the Game Boy Player Adapter?

I believe the amperage rating you have is correct, buy why not build a network adapter into it? I mean after all, it is a laptop and they generally have ethernet ports…

R/C cars batteries are 7.2v unless you get a 7-cell pack, that are 8.4v
You'd need two 6-cell packs in series to get 14.4v, and then step it down.

Um....no, they sell 12 volt rc batteries........14.4 volts is supported by the Gamecube, you don't need to step that down...since the GCN has a regulator board...just don't input somethingoutragous like 50 volts...not that anyone would do that in the first place

id reccomend a higher voltage like 14.4 instead of 12 that way your regulator doesnt crap out as fast because of a dying battery's lowered voltage

thats what always happened with my mark I snesp and the batteies still had some juice left

Ok, a few things.

First of all, "The lap top is not internet capeable" has a lot of problems with it, but only one that really matters. The laptop is not built yet, so it has the potential to be internet capable, since the circuitry (in this case, the GameCube) that will make it up has the correct expansions to connect to a network adapter. If the case for it has no ethernet port, there is no reason you can't add one, and if you're wondering how much network adapters go for, it's like $15 used at most places.

Next, the GameCube will run just fine on 14.4v. Gamelver's original GCp used li-poly batteries that added to 14.4v. I would actually suggest li-poly or li-ion batteries, mainly for the reason that they're very high capacity in a small space. Trust me on this: you'll need to conserve as much space as possible to get a reasonable GameCube laptop.

If you consider adding a network adapter, know that you won't necessarily need to keep the port, just replace the connectors with straight wire, which will also allow you to move things around. The same thing can be done with the disc reader board and the motherboard.

how in the world are you gonna make a gamecube laptop with the gamecube dvd drive? Sorry, but it seems a litttle hard.......you would have to extremly mod the dvd drive......and connect it with ide wire....same goes with the power regulator board.
